The picture on the right includes some of my 3/d creations. The top relief of fired & glazed clay plus added metal and wire elements is raised above an acrylic painted background. Mira, a unique fired & gazed mask is mounted on a wooden background. I name each of my creatures so Yolanda, Genevieve, Mischievous Mike, A Safari trophy, a decorative frog, and Happy Frog candle holder are a few you see. Presently I have two art pieces in the member show at Quinlin Art Center. Both are collage and mixed media pieces. Then I'm experimenting with a couple of paintings. They are mixed media which is becoming more and more my love when creating 2/d work. I also started teaching a nine year old last month. It is fun and I trust I can help her grow in knowledge of her art. The Life I want to visualize in my art includes more than the eye observes. I want to include feeling, ideas, plus the inner excitement of color, line, and textures. I find working with different media stimulates the creative urge within me. I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Art Education, and I taught children for around eight years at both the Fine Arts Museum and the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston, Texas. While that was a long time ago, today I have my own studio, enjoy friendship with other artist in the Gainesville area. |
